No Joke: Kanye West Says Beck Should've Given His Grammy to Beyonce

Hey, Kanye West, Imma let you finish... but you need to get over yourself.

On Sunday night's Grammy Awards, West nearly reenacted his 2009 MTV VMAs stunt by walking on stage as Beck was given the trophy for Album of the Year over Beyonce. Although everyone laughed it off, it turns out West wasn't really making a joke.

Following the broadcast, Kanye went on one of his trademark rants telling E!, "If [the Grammys] want real artists to keep coming back, they need to stop playing with us... And Beck needs to respect artistry and he should have given his award to Beyoncé."

With wife Kim Kardashian by his side, West continued. "When you keep on diminishing art and not respecting the craft and smacking people in the face after they deliver monumental feats of music, you're disrespectful to inspiration. And we as musicians have to inspire people who go to work every day. And they listen to that Beyoncé album and they feel like it takes them to another place."

West said he ultimately decided against making more of a scene on stage because of Kardashian and their daughter North. "I'm not going to do nothing to put my daughter at risk -- but I am here to fight for creativity," he said. "That's the reason why I didn't say anything tonight. But y'all know what it meant when 'Ye walked on the stage."

Beck, meanwhile, handled the interruption much more graciously. "I was just so excited he was coming up. He deserves to be on stage as much as anybody," Beck said, according to Us Weekly. "How many great records has he put out in the last five years, right? I still love him and think he's genius. I aspire to do what he does." As for whether or not Beyonce should've won Beck said, "Absolutely. I thought she was going to win. Come on, she's Beyonce!"
