John Travolta Creates Foundation in Memory of Son

John Travolta has established the Jett Travolta Foundation in memory of his 16-year-old son, who died Jan. 2.
The foundation will work to "assist and provide relief to children with vision, hearing, mobility, communication, behavioral learning impairments or other special medical, environmental, health or education needs," according to a statement on the actor's official website.
The organization will also fund children's educational programs, make grants to educate others about the importance of a clean environment, and provide assistance to children affected by natural or man-made disasters.
Travolta and his wife Kelly Preston have championed for clean surroundings after Jett fell ill when he was 2. Preston attributed Jett's illness to household cleaners and fertilizers, leading her to create a detoxification program based on the teachings of Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard.
Jett died from a seizure while on a Bahamian vacation with his family, which includes sister, Ella, 8.
