We already know he's got jokes

WWE star John Cena is bringing his comedic talents to SNL. The sketch program announced via Twitter on Friday that Cena will host the show next weekend with musical guest Maren Morris. Oscar hopeful Casey Affleck will follow on Dec. 17 with Chance the Rapper.

While this is the first time that Cena has held down the SNL stage, he is no stranger to comedy. He had a breakout performance last summer in Amy Schumer's Trainwreck (and it can be argued he was the best part of the film). He's also gotten used to the cameras outside of the wrestling wring with his Fox show American Grit as well as hosting the Teen Choice Awards earlier this year. Cena's sincere delivery along with great natural comedic talent makes him a natural fit for SNL.

"So incredibly honored & excited to host @nbcsnl on Dec. 10th. Can't wait to be live from NYC on a Saturday night!," Cena said in his own tweet confirming the news. This hosting stint will be Cena's first step towards catching up with fellow wrestler-turned-actor Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, who has hosted the show four times with a bonus cold open guest appearance.

SNL continues this Saturday at 11:30/10:30c on NBC with host Emma Stone and musical guest Shawn Mendes.
