VH1 has ordered 10 episodes of Mama Drama, a reality show about moms who are more interested in acting like their daughter's "BFF" than a parent, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The show was brought to VH1 by way of SallyAnn Salsano, a woman who knows a thing or two about creating reality TV. She's the creator and executive producer of MTV's Jersey Shore.
"This show is emotionally and visually stimulating," Salsano told THR. "You can't stop watching. These characters are real and raw and don't apologize for anything."

Magazine to focus on reality TV
Mama Drama
, which premieres on New Year's Day at 9 p.m., places five mother-daughter duos in a house together, and the drama inevitably unfolds from there.
"We see examples of this all around today with mothers living vicariously through their daughters," VH1 executive Jeff Olde said. "Part of this speaks to a new cultural definition of age with women in their 40s and 50s no longer constrained by rules about how they need to dress or act."

Salsano said she could relate to certain aspects of the show— but not everything."I am super tight with my mom. My mom and I are best friends. I have that in common with these girls," she told THR. "However, I can tell you I've never been to a nightclub doing shots and hooking up with guys in front of my mother. I'm not judging, because even in the best of times there is no more complicated relationship than one between a mother and daughter. I think that's something that needs to be explored."Mama Drama premieres Sunday, Jan. 1 at 9/8c on VH1. Will you watch?
