After all these years, Sheldon's (Jim Parsons) big brother is finally coming to The Big Bang Theory.

Jerry O'Connell will appear as George Cooper Jr., aka Georgie, in the Season 11 finale, TVLine reports. The casting was announced during a The Big Bang Theory/Young Sheldon panel event at the Paley Center in Los Angeles Wednesday evening.

Georgie, who is played as a teenager by Montana Jordan on the prequel series Young Sheldon, will attend his brother's wedding to Amy (Mayim Bialik), an event which will be the central focus on the upcoming finale.

Georgie has frequently been mentioned throughout the series -- usually in reference to him not being very bright -- but he has never previously appeared on Big Bang because he and Sheldon are not close.

Additionally, Laurie Metcalf will return as Sheldon's mother Mary to walk Sheldon down the aisle in the season finale. No word yet on whether Sheldon's other family members -- twin sister Missy (Courtney Henggeler) and grandmother Meemaw (June Squibb) -- will also be in attendance.

O'Connell is best known for roles in movies including Jerry Maguire and Stand by Me (which co-starred frequent Big Bang Theory guest star Wil Wheaton) and has appeared in dozens of movies and TV shows over his 30-plus year career. Before his Big Bang Theory appearance, he can be seen as a guest star on Season 3 of Billions.
