Jennie Garth Reveals Heart Ailment

90210 star Jennie Garth has opened up for the first time about her heart problem: a leaky valve.
"[I]t's a common thing. A lot of people have it. They don't know they have it... [it] leaks blood," she tells Access Hollywood. "It's your connection to your heart... your artery, the main artery that goes to your heart. It sort of flutters open and shut sort of a thing... it's weird because sometimes when I'm resting I can feel a little weird fluttering."
Garth was diagnosed with the condition seven years ago during her first trip to the cardiologist. She says she decided to speak out about it to raise awareness for heart disease, which runs in both sides of her family. The actress lost her father last year to heart disease.
While the leaky valve has not hindered Garth's lifestyle, complications could arise in the future.
"People have had valve replacements and that kind of thing... but I'm prepared, that's the key," she says.
