JANE'S NOT FONDA TED

Jane Fonda has officially filed for divorce from her billionaire husband, CNN founder Ted Turner. While their divorce petition reveals they've agreed on a financial settlement, it doesn't offer details. Says Fonda's attorney, John C. Mayoue: "This is a private matter between Mr. Turner and Jane Fonda, and any terms between them are confidential." Turner's spokesman, Phillip Evans, asked that the couple's privacy be respected, adding that they "have the deepest affection and respect for each other, and will always remain very good friends." This puzzling assertion comes in the wake of Turner's public criticism of his wife's conversion to Christianity in The New Yorker. And as Fonda herself fired back in the magazine: "He needs someone to be there 100 percent of the time. He thinks that's love. It is not love. It's babysitting... We went in different directions. I grew up."
