JANE DOUGH

Moviegoers welcomed Jane Fonda back to the big screen in a big way over the weekend, making Monster-in-Law the No. 1 film in the country. The combative comedy, which pits Fonda against fellow diva Jennifer Lopez, earned $24 million. Will Ferrell's soccer satire Kicking & Screaming finished a close second with $21 million, followed by the Jet Li action flick Unleashed (No. 3 with $10.6 million). Rounding out the top five were Kingdom of Heaven (No. 4 with $9.6 million) and Crash (No. 5 with $7.2 million). Meanwhile, the long-delayed Christian Slater thriller Mindhunters debuted with just $2 million, bad enough for 10th place.
