James Franco has yet another surprising job up his sleeve.

The actor/writer/producer/director/teacher is set to headline the new Hulu series from J.J. Abrams and Stephen King, TVGuide.com has learned.

Based upon King's bestselling 2011 novel 11/22/63, the series of the same name tells the story of a high school English teacher named Jake Epping (Franco) who travels back in time to prevent the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. However, things get complicated quickly thanks to shooter Lee Harvey Oswald, Jake's falling in love and the past itself.

Franco will also serve as a producer on the nine-hour event series, which Hulu ordered in September.

An Oscar nominee for his work in 127 Hours, Franco got his start on Freaks and Geeks and is known for his work in the original Spider-Man trilogy, Pineapple Express, Milk, This Is the End and, most recently, The Interview.
