This March marked 20 years since the Tejano singer's death
Nearly 20 years after playing her on the big screen, Jennifer Lopez has honored Selena again. On Thursday night, she did a seven-minute medley of the late singer's hits at the Billboard Latin Music Awards.

March was the 20th anniversary of Selena Quintanilla's death. A young Jennifer Lopez had her breakout role in the film version of her life in 1997.
In the introduction, hosts Gaby Espino and Pedro Fernandez spoke briefly (in Spanish) about Selena's lasting impact. "Today, her spirit, her grace, and her voice are present," Fernandez said. "Tonight we have an artist who has had many career triumphs, but one in particular, which has marked her artistic career forever, is her masterful interpretation of Selena."
Then J. Lo -- clad in a skintight custom Versace outfit -- rocked Selena's hits "Bidi Bidi Bom Bom," "Como La Flor," "I Could Fall in Love," and "No Me Queda Mas."
Los Dinos, who used to perform with the real Selena, served as her backup band.
