He's the manny of your dreams
Most people know Idris Elba for his dramatic chops in shows like The Wireand Luther, but Netflix's new series Turn Up Charlie aims to showcase a couple of his other talents: comedy and DJ-ing.
For those who aren't familiar, Elba is actually a seasoned musician whose stage name is DJ Big Driis. He's released an album, several EPs and even a holiday-themed mixtape called Merry DriisMas. In Turn Up Charlie, Elba portrays a much less successful DJ who thinks he's getting the gig of a lifetime after being introduced to an international sensation named Sara (Piper Perabo) by his movie star best friend.
As the new trailer for the show reveals, though, he's instead asked to become a full-time nanny for her young daughter Gabby (Frankie Hervey), a precocious tyke who isn't afraid to check him on his flowery language and challenge his efforts to placate her.
We'll have to wait and see how Charlie adapts to the child-rearing game -- and what becomes of his connection with Sara -- when Turn Up Charlie drops on Netflix on Friday, March 15.
