ICE AGE BEATS ICE PICK

Ice Age: The Meltdown led the weekend box office with a $70 million take, besting the record (held by the original Ice Age) for a March opening. Inside Man ($16 million), ATL ($12 mil), Failure to Launch ($7 mil) and V for Vendetta ($6 mil) rounded out the top five. New releases Slither ($4 million) and Basic Instinct 2 (with a scant $3 mil) placed eighth and 10th, respectively.
