Hugh Dane - A.K.A Hank the Security Guard from The Office - Has Died
The Office cast members tweeted their condolences
Hugh Dane, also known as the beloved Hank the security guard on The Office, has passed away at the age of 75.
The announcement of Dane's death was posted on the The Inner City Cultural Center Facebook page on Monday. The obit lists his date of death as May 16, 2018 and contains information about his memorial service in June.
Hank, Dane's character on The Office, was introduced in Season 2, and his laid-back stance on office security quickly became a prime opportunity for comedy in scenes with the hyper-vigilant Dwight Schrute (Rainn Wilson).
Wilson tweeted his condolences for Dane, saying, "RIP Hugh Dane, aka Hank the security guard. He was one of the greats. So kind, funny, talented. We will all miss him. Donations can be made in his name to: http://www.innercityculturalcenter.org/."
Steve Carell retweeted Wilson, adding, "What a terrific guy."
In addition to The Office, Dane also appeared on Friends, Boy Meets World, Monk, The West Wingand more.
