Homeland is bringing it back to our homeland in Season 6, and the first teaser for the next chapter of Showtime's political thriller shows that might not be the best thing for America.

Set months after the events of Season 5, which mostly took place in Germany, Season 6 will follow Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) in New York City as she works with a foundation providing aid to Muslims living in the United States. But Carrie can't stop the xenophobia that grips Americans still reeling from 9/11, as tension takes the form of violence and harassment, and obviously she'll get pulled back into counter-intelligence.

In addition to a solid 40-plus seconds of characters looking like they're having a very bad day, the teaser also gives us the first look at Elizabeth Marvel's Elizabeth Keane (no, not Elizabeth Keen from The Blacklist), the president elect for Homeland's America.

What Homeland fans will notice is that there is no footage of Rupert Friend's Quinn, who appeared to have died in the Season 6 finale. However, Homeland showrunner Alex Gansa confirmed that Quinn is alive and will return a very changed man.

Homeland will return for Season 6 on Sunday, Jan. 15 at 9/8c on Showtime.
