HITLER FLAP

Ed Gernon, a producer on CBS's upcoming Hitler miniseries, has been fired over comments he made in the current issue of TV Guide magazine. In the article, Gernon suggested that fear fueled the public's acceptance of President Bush's preemptive strike in Iraq, and said a similar national mood led to Hitler's rise to power. CBS called the remark "insensitive and outright wrong." In related news, that same issue of TV Guide (on newsstands now) also features a fantastic story about Madonna on page 4. I don't recall who wrote it, but it's a brilliant read.
