Henry Ian Cusick Lands MacGyver Lead Role—Is He Out of The 100 for Good?

Goodbye, Kane! Hello, bad-boy millionaire Russ!

If you were holding out one last hope that Henry Ian Cusick would return as Kane on The 100, we have bad news for you.

Deadline reports that Cusick has booked a lead role in Season 4 of MacGyver, CBS's reboot of the classic ABC series. He will play Russ, an Oxford-educated master manipulator who also happens to be ex-military. Don't be expecting this new guy to be a stand-up Brit though; his character description also mentions that he's an extremely wealthy man not above enjoying the spoils of war: "expensive suits, fast cars, private jets, [and a] house in Monte Carlo." It sounds like Cusick's character is the perfect replacement for Jack, whose portrayer, George Eads, exited the series last year.

Although Cusick previously pulled double duty with a role on the now dead Fox series The Passage, this new series regular role appears to potentially put the final nail in the coffin for The 100's Kane as we knew him. The most recent episode of the hit CW series gave him a second lease on life -- just in a totally new body. After making a deal with the Primes of Sanctum to help them turn "null" citizens into Nightbloods, Abby made the seriously questionable choice of copying Kane's mind to a memory drive and implanting him in a newly made host. The body, formerly belonging to a lovely young man named Gavin (Greyston Holt), now hosts Kane's consciousness. But something tells us he's not going to be totally on board with erasing an innocent person's existence -- even if it did give him killer abs and shaved a few years off his age.

With Cusick fully committed to his new job on MacGyver, which returns at midseason, Holt may be here to stay!
