Hayley Atwell has signed on to star in the ABC pilot Conviction, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Atwell will play Carter Morrison, the daughter of a former president who is blackmailed into becoming the head of Los Angeles' Conviction Integrity Unit. Along with a team of lawyers, investigators and forensic experts, Carter will examine cases in which the wrong person may have been convicted.

So what does this mean for Atwell's current series, Agent Carter? The actress' role on the Marvel drama is in first position, meaning that if Conviction gets picked up to series, she would have to juggle both shows. Of course, that will only be an issue if ABC renews Agent Carter, which doesn't bring in impressive ratings, despite critical acclaim.
