A musical version of Alice Walker's Pulitzer-winning novel, The Color Purple, is being groomed for Broadway. Casting has not yet been finalized, but the show is expected to open Oct. 25. The 1985 film treatment starred Whoopi Goldberg, Danny Glover and Oprah "Herm&#232s Sucks" Winfrey.
