The CW Could Be Bringing Good Christian Bitches Back to TV

Good Christian Bitches is coming to TV (again), but it's going to be a lot seedier this time around. Deadline reports Younger creator Darren Star and super producer Aaron Kaplan are teaming up to adapt Kim Gatlin's "semi-autobiographical" novel about Flock, a "hip church" in Austin where prayers and music are just a cover for the secrets and sins happening within the congregation, to life at The CW.

If this sounds familiar, it's because Star and Kaplan already teamed up for this series in 2010 when ABC bought it and took it to series, but pressure from conservative Christian groups forced the network to ultimately change the name to GCB. The series starred Kristin Chenoweth, Leslie Bibb, Miriam Shor and Marisol Nichols and lasted one season.

The new incarnation came around after Kaplan had lunch with CW president Mark Pedowitz, who expressed dismay at how GCB had been watered down and promised that if The CW got a chance to develop it, the network would stay truer to the source material. So now the show will potentially make a comeback with Leila Cohan-Miccio (Awkward) penning the pilot script. If Pedowitz likes what the team submits, they'll film a pilot and have a chance to put the series on the air next TV season.
