God Friended Me's latest case hits close to home for new squad member Joy (Jessica Lu), who must confront her past in an unexpected way. Sunday's episode, titled "All Those Yesterdays," puts her squarely in the path of the daughter she gave up years ago after the God account sends her a request to help the now-teenaged girl.

In an exclusive sneak peek at the episode, which airs Oct. 20 at 8/7c, Joy worries something might be seriously wrong if God is willing to intervene in her daughter's life. Did she make the right choice in giving up her baby for adoption? But leave it to the God Squad to quell her fears by reminding her of their excellent track record. Plus, it's no coincidence that Joy's 13-year-old kid plays soccer with Cara's (Violett Beane) younger sister. There's a reason she's resurfaced in Joy's life; they just have to figure out what that is.

This week's episode promises to be a poignant hour for Joy as she works on a case that brings up painful memories. The question is: Can she push through and persevere? Or will she let her feelings get in the way of the greater good?

God Friended Me airs Sundays at 8/7c on CBS.
