Start your engines, Game of Thronesfans!

If you absolutely cannot wait 10 more days for the premiere of season five of Game of Thrones, you aren't alone -- we can't either! Thankfully, George R.R. Martin offered us a literary nicotine patch in the form of a new chapter from the forthcoming book The Winds of Winter.

Mega buzz surrounds the next season of Game of Thrones

When Game of Thrones debuted on HBO, five books had been completed in the series. Winds of Winter will be the sixth and therefore will include new action that has not taken place on TV. Martin estimates the series will ultimately be nine books long -- though it bears mentioning that, when he published the first book, it was only supposed to be a trilogy.

The books are all written from a first-person perspective. With each chapter, the narrator changes, so like on the show, you jump from Sansa to Daenerys to Cersei to other characters and back again. Martin posted the new chapter on his website.

Did George R.R. Martin just reveal when the next Game of Thrones book will be published?

We hate spoilers just as much as you do, so we won't say who's narrating the new chapter (and therefore lives past Book/Season 5). Suffice it to say it's a character we met in Season 1 -- and met under a new name briefly in Season 4. It mentions several other familiar faces from the show, so you'll have a teensy bit of insight as to which main characters are safe. (Though nothing is certain: the showrunners are allegedly deviating from the books pretty significantly this season).

But if you've read the books or don't care if you're spoiled, by all means, read the chapter here.

Game of Thrones Season 5 premieres on Sunday, April 12 at 9/8c on HBO.
