The PepsiCo unit, however, says the decision to shelf the sports beverage, called Tiger Focus, does not have to do with recent events, according to The AP. A spokesman says the decision came several months ago.
According to The AP, trade publication Beverage Digest first reported the discontinuation in an issue dated Nov. 25, two days before Woods' car accident near his Florida home. The editor of the publication, John Sicher, said he learned of the decision to cease production of Tiger Focus, which debuted in March 2008, the week of Nov. 9.
Since Nov. 29, there has been no prime-time advertisements featuring Woods, according to Nielsen.
