Gary Coleman's Living Will Ordered 15 Days of Life Support

A living will shows Gary Coleman ordered that he be kept on life support for at least 15 days, according to court documents obtained by CNN.

The Diff'rent Strokes actor died May 28 at 42. He was taken off life support by ex-wife Shannon Price one day after he became unconscious following a brain hemorrhage.

"Decisions to terminate life support for patients are not made by physicians," a spokeswoman for Utah Valley Regional Medical Center said in a statement. "They are made by family members or legal representatives of patients in consultation with health care providers."

Although they divorced in 2008, Price and Coleman were living together when he fell and suffered a hemorrhage at his Utah home. Price was also named in his 2006 health care directive.

"If I am unable to give informed consent to medical treatment, I want my agent to give or withhold such consent for me based upon any treatment choices that I have expressed while competent, whether under this power of attorney or otherwise," the living will said, according to CNN. "If my agent cannot determine the treatment choice I would make under the particular circumstances, then my agent should make the choice based on what my agent believes to be in my best interest."

The 2005 will also named Coleman's former girlfriend and manager, Anna Gray, as executor, according to Gray. On Monday, a judge ordered that Coleman's remains not be cremated for at least 48 hours to allow Gray to see him one final time.

District Judge James Taylor denied Price's petition to grant her control of Coleman's estate. An independent lawyer has been assigned to the case.
