Could Game of Thrones Be Returning Later Next Year?

This is why we need more hours in the day.

It looks like Game of Thronescould be returning next season much later than we're used to.

Tim Surette, from our sister site TV.com, points out the mathematical inevitability. Consider the evidence:

Typically, Game of Thrones debuts its new seasons in late March or early April.

However, HBO recently announced premiere dates for new seasons of Girls and Togetherness (Sunday, Feb. 21) and the series premiere of Martin Scorsese and Mick Jagger's Vinyl(Sunday, Feb. 14). Allowing for all three shows to run 10-episode seasons, HBO won't have a totally free Sunday night until May 1.

Of course, Thrones could premiere on April 17 after Vinyl ends, but we're guessing that HBO will wait until the show can be paired with new seasons of Silicon Valley and Veep, both of which won't be able to assume their usual timeslots until Girls and Togetherness conclude...at the end of April.
