Anxious for all those Game of Thrones spin-offs HBO has promised? It sounds like at least one of them is making serious moves!

HBO president of programming Casey Bloys told reporters at the Television Critics Association summer press tour that the first Game of Thrones spin-off, which will be a prequel' set 8,000 years before the original in the time of the Children of the Forest and the creation White Walkers, "hope(s) to be shooting some time in the new year."

The search for a director and casting director is on, he said, suggesting that of all the five potential Game of Thrones spin-offs said to be in the works, the prequel has the most resources and commitment. While there's no word on the other series, Bloys confirmed, "We did multiple scripts, out of five... We are lucky to get one we're very very excited about, but beyond that, there are no other plans."

The First Game of Thrones Spin-Off Will Go Into Westeros' Deep Past

HBO announced in June that it had ordered a pilot, and will travel back in time deep into Westeros' complicated history. Kick-Ass and Kingsman: Secret Service scribe Jane Goldman is on board as showrunner using material from George R.R. Martin. Bloodline co-creator Daniel Zelman also joins the producing team, but Vince Gerardis is the only current Game of Thrones producer listed by The Hollywood Reporter. Current Game of Thrones leaders David Benioff and Dan Weiss are not involved in the spin-off as they've been busy producing the final season of the epic series.

Game of Thrones will return in the first half of 2019.
