Here's the Game of Thrones Season Maisie Williams Thinks Fans Should Revisit Ahead of Season 8

We haven't done the math or anything, but there's probably still time to re-bingeGame of Thrones' first seven seasons ahead of the premiere of the show's eighth and final season, if you're willing to sacrifice sleep and/or work and/or sanity in the process. If you don't have energy to re-watch all of the episodes in advance, though, actress Maisie Williams is giving fans a reason to at least journey back to the beginning before the end.

In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, Williams revealed that while preparing for her final scenes for the HBO epic, she noticed a lot of callbacks to the show's very first season scattered throughout the new one.

"After reading the scripts I went back and watched Season 1 again because so much of it refers back to that season. There are so many scenes that will look similar," she teased.

As Game of Thrones fans will recall, Arya traveled to King's Landing with her father and sister in Season 1 and took up dance fighting with her instructor Syrio Forel, whose death would ultimately inform a chunk of the names that made it onto her Kill List. We've already gotten a sampling of Arya doing some of that water dancing in the final trailer for Season 8, so what else might happen in the new episodes to harken back to old times? We'll have to wait and see on that note, but one thing we can know now is that Arya hasn't given up on her goal of finishing off that list.

Williams told EW, "Basically this year it's like she has a dual personality -- there are so many emotions and memories that come flooding back when you're with your family and the things that you fight for become very different, yet she's also remaining on this path to try and kill Cersei and remembering her list and getting closer to that. So there's this split with Arya between trying to be who she wants to be -- getting back to the naïveté and innocence with her family -- and unfinished business."

Williams also promised that fans shouldn't expect the same kind of sibling rivalry we experienced in Season 7, when Sansa (Sophie Turner) was still unsure of Arya's intentions. "This season you see Arya teaming with Sansa and sometimes calling out Jon," she hinted. Sounds like that Stark family reunion will be a happy one, indeed -- at least until all hell breaks loose at Winterfell, and then who knows what will happen.

Game of Thrones Season 8 premieres on HBO on Sunday, April 14 at 9/8c.
