When Donald Glover announced the he was leaving his television job as Troy on Community, it was believed to be partly because he wanted to pursue his rap career. Now Glover is headed back to television, playing, appropriately enough, a young man pursuing his rap career.

FX has ordered a pilot for Atlanta, created and starring Glover, the network announced Friday. The potential series follows two cousins working their way up the Atlanta rap scene while dealing with their polar opposite views on art, commercialism, race and success. Glover's character is a college drop-out named Earnest "Earn" Marks who rekindles his passion for rap when his cousin becomes a hip-hop star.

"Donald Glover is a uniquely talented actor and performer who brings real-life experience to this subject matter," said FX executive Nick Gad.

During his time on Community, Glover rose to fame in the music world while performing under the name Childish Gambino. However, Glover would later say he didn't leave Community to pursue a rap career, but because he "wanted to be on [his] own."
