Freeform Cancels Marvel's Cloak & Dagger After Two Seasons

Here's some news that will sour your weekend: Freeform has canceled Marvel's Cloak & Dagger after two seasons. TV Guide has learned that the network decided not to pick up the superhero series set in New Orleans for a third season.

"We are so proud of Marvel's Cloak & Dagger and the trailblazing stories this series told," reads a statement from Freeform. "We are also grateful to our incredible talent Oliva Holt and Aubrey Joseph for bringing these beloved characters to life, and showrunner Joe Pokaski for his vision. We'd like to thank our partners at Marvel Television for a wonderful two seasons and are we are hopeful that we can find another project together."

Pokaski then opened up about the show's cancelation in a Twitter thread, writing, "There are parts of me that feel gut-punched or angry at larger corporate forces, but the biggest feeling I have in my heart right now, by far, is pride. I'm so fucking proud with what we got to do on [Cloak & Dagger]."

The news comes after Hulu confirmed that Cloak & Dagger stars Aubrey Joseph and Olivia Holt would appear on Marvel's Runaways this season in a much-anticipated crossover. Though it looks like there won't be new episodes of Cloak & Dagger, fans can take solace in the fact that Ty and Tandy will appear one last time, albeit in a different series on a different network.

Freeform also recently canceled the Pretty Little Liars spin-off Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists after one season.

With Cloak & Dagger officially done at Freeform, we're hoping Hulu can pull a last-minute save and make a home for the series. It wouldn't be the first time this year that it's happened.
