Fox has ordered a pilot for Luther, a remake of the BBC drama, Deadline reports.
The project is about John Luther, "a near-genius murder detective whose brilliant mind can't always save him from the dangerous violence of his passions. Idra Elba starred in the original series and will executive-produce the pilot. Neil Cross, who created the original, will write and executive-produce alongside Elba. The project is cast-contingent, indicating the importance of finding an actor who can match Elba's original performance.

Fox has also given a put-pilot commitment to Frankenstein. The sci-fi drama will follow a morally corrupt retired cop who must choose between his old habits and new perspective once he is brought back from the dead. Crisis creator Rand Ravich will write and executive-produce with Homeland's Howard Gordon.
The one-hour procedural Rosewood also received a pilot order. The close-ended drama follows Dr. Beaumont Rosewood Jr., a pathologist who understands the secrets in dead bodies, but is obsessed with life. Psych's Todd Hartham will write and executive-produce.
Fox also ordered a pilot for 48 Hours 'Til Monday, a single-camera comedy from The Mindy Project's Charlie Grandy. The sitcom tells the story of a husband's struggle to not let his weekends go to hell.
These shows join a previously ordered Minority Report sequel pilot as well as Ryan Murphy's Scream Queens, which went straight to series.
