We're Getting Another Indiana Jones Movie We Didn't Ask For

The long-threatened sequel to Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull is coming in 2019

All right, okay, sure: Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford have officially signed on for a fifth Indiana Jones movie, Disney announced Tuesday. The as-yet-untitled flick is scheduled to be released on July 19, 2019, six days after Harrison Ford's 77th birthday.

It will be the first Indiana Jones movie since 2008's universally maligned Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. That movie was supposed to set up Shia LaBeouf as the heir to the franchise, but Disney did not mention LaBeouf at all in its announcement.

The first Indiana Jones movie, Raiders of the Lost Ark, was released in 1981. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, the completion of the trilogy, came out in 1989.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens did great, so we're getting another Indiana Jones movie. Will you willingly see it, or will you just sort of somehow find yourself in a movie theater watching it, not really knowing why you're there?
