Extant Mega Buzz: How Will Season 2 Be Different?

When Extant's second season begins, it's six months after the events of the Season 1 finale, and Molly Woods (Halle Berry) is being held in a recovery center. What landed her there?

"She's [a] woman with nothing left to lose," creator Mickey Fisher tells TVGuide.com. "She's less a mother this season than a warrior, a woman on a mission."

In the July 2 season premiere, through flashbacks, we'll learn that Molly hasn't had the easiest time readjusting to life on Earth after her Season 1 ordeal in space. For starters, she's forced to testify under oath about her alien offspring and opts to, shall we say, withhold some information in order to avoid sending the world's human population into a panic. But, perhaps even more significantly, Molly learns that her husband John (Goran Visnjic, who will have a reduced role this season) and his assistant Julie (Grace Gummer) grew close in her absence - perhaps a bit too close.

The first episode makes it clear that their relationship may have consequences that no one saw coming.
