Busfield will star in one episode as Congressman John Ellis, who's described as "a popular, charming career politician ... whose private life isn't nearly as squeaky clean as he'd like the voters to think." The legislator quickly finds himself getting strongly pressured to change his opinion about an upcoming ordinance on the show.

A television veteran, Busfield's credits include The West Wing, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, thirtysomething and The Byrds of Paradise.

In other casting news, the show has also booked Friday Night Lights alum Jurnee Smollett in a guest role. She'll play Traci Mitchell, a pregnant prostitute who's looking to give up her baby and get back to work. But she quickly faces "physiological and emotional complications" stemming from her pregnancy.

The Mob Doctor's antihero will cross the line

The Mob Doctor stars Jordana Spiro as a Chicago surgeon who works for the mafia on the side in order to pay off a debt owed by her brother.

The Mob Doctor premieres Monday, Sept. 17 at 9/8c.
