There's an Olympian, football player and a "no excuses mom"
An Olympian, a football player and a "no excuses mom" are among the competitors on Fox's new military-themed competition series American Grit, TVGuide.com can exclusively reveal.
Hosted by John Cena, the series features 16 men and women, divided into teams of four, tackling military-grade and survival-themed challenges in the hopes of winning up to a million dollars. They will be trained by "the cadre," comprised of Navy Seal Cmdr. Rorke Denver, Army Sgt. (and Dancing with the Stars alum) Noah Galloway, Marine Gunnery Sgt. Tawanda "Tee" Hanible, and Army Ranger Nick "The Reaper" Irving.
The contestants range in age from 22-year-old professional wrestler Cameron Zagami to 54-year-old police officer Jim Vaglica. Former sprinter David Neville, who currently works as a track and field coach, won gold and bronze medals at the Beijing Olympics, while sports performance coach Tony Simmons was a wide receiver for the New York Giants, Indianapolis Colts, Cleveland Browns and New England Patriots.
Meet the cast in the teaser and gallery below. American Grit premieres Thursday, April 14 at 9/8c on Fox.
