Freeform has revealed the first look at its upcoming half-hour comedy series Everything's Gonna Be Okay, and it looks like everything is decidedly not going to be okay for the family at the heart of this new series. The show centers on a 25-year-old named Nicholas (Josh Thomas), who hasn't exactly been brother of the year to his teenaged half-sisters (played by Kayla Cromer and Maeve Press), one of whom is on the autism spectrum. However, he'll have to step up in the wake of his single father's diagnosis of a terminal illness because, although they aren't babies, they'll still need a guardian when the time comes.

In the preview, Nicholas reluctantly accepts that he'll have to take care of the girls and makes one terrible pitch by telling his skeptical sisters, "Let's be honest, am I the best catch? No. I'm not. I'm messy and clumsy and I don't know how to drive -- that's a big problem -- but I am very enthusiastic, and yeah I'm inexperienced, but all parents are... and you girls, like, you both know not to put your head in the oven. What's the worst that can happen?"

Eventually, the two come around to the idea of living under his care when their dear old dad kicks the bucket. They might be on board with this new living arrangement, but it's clear the whole family also knows what a circus their lives are about to become.

Everything's Gonna Be Okay premieres Thursday, Jan. 16 on Freeform.
