She's building her own brand
Empire's final season is all about moving forward. With Lucious (Terrence Howard) on the run from the FBI, the rest of the Lyon family must figure out how to get on with their lives. For Cookie (Taraji P. Henson), that means building up her own brand in an effort to forget about her missing husband.
In this exclusive sneak peek of the Season 6 premiere, the Lyon family matriarch wraps her trial run as co-host of a daytime talk show as questions loom about the status of her marriage amid Lucious's disappearing act. Recognizing that her silence is damaging to her career, Cookie's publicist urges her to make a public statement and settle this Lucious drama once and for all, which Cookie ignores. She might be ready to move on professionally, but it's clear that Cookie is not ready to exorcise Lucious from her life completely just yet.
The premiere, titled "What Is Love," finds the Lyon family splintered as they cope in different ways. Cookie keeps busy by focusing on her new talk show and community center, while Hakeem (Bryshere "Yazz" Gray) tries to land the leading role in Empire's first movie. Elsewhere, Andre (Trai Byers) alone sits atop the Empire throne and is faced with opportunists vying for their cut of the business. Plus, Giselle (Nicole Ari Parker) and Becky (Gabourey Sidibe) search for their first Bossy Media artist.
Empire returns for its sixth and final season Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 8/7c on Fox.
