The son of author Elmore Leonard, who died last week at age 87, said he plans to finish his father's final book and publish it posthumously.

Blue Dreams, which will be Leonard's 46th novel, features the recurring US marshal character Raylan Givens that inspired the TV series Justified, the author's son Peter told the BBC.

"I would, I think so," Peter Leonard told the BBC when asked if he planned to finish his father's last book. "It's been discussed among family members and I've talked to Greg Sutter, Elmore's longtime researcher."

It's unclear how many pages of the novel Leonard, whose work also inspired Hollywood flicks Get Shorty and Out of Sight had completed.
