Elijah Wood is heading to BBC America's Dirk Gently. The network announced on Tuesday that Wood will be playing Todd, the unwilling assistant that thinks he's better than his "sidekick" role to the titular character.

The series has not dubbed its Dirk Gently yet, but Chronicle scribe Max Landis is writing the series based on Douglas Adams' Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency novels. The adaption is described as a "comedic thriller" that follows the adventures of eccentric "holistic" detective Dirk Gently and Todd, as they "wind their way through one big, seemingly insane mystery a season."
