The legal beef over the upcoming Dumb and Dumbersequel is getting nasty.
The original film's producers Steve Stabler and Brad Krevoy have filed a countersuit against the company that is working to legally exclude them from Dumb and Dumber To, The Hollywood Reporterreports. According to the countersuit, Red Grantite's Riza Aziz and Joey McFarland lack the necessary experience to produce a successful film.

The biggest celebrity feuds

"Red Granite will not succeed with money alone because McFarland's and Shahriz Bin Abdul Aziz's experience producing motion pictures during their short tenure in the industry consists of cavorting at nightclubs with Paris Hilton and making dinner reservations at posh nightclubs in New York and Los Angeles," the countersuit claims. Stabler and Krevoy also claim that there is doubt as to whether McFarland and Aziz will follow through on their commitments. "No one in Hollywood will trust McFarland and Shahriz Bin Abdul [Riza] Aziz enough to take employment on their projects in the future because they will risk not getting their full compensation," the legal documents state.Stabler and Krevoy claim that they helped Red Granite purchase the rights, but Red Grante insists that "no agreement of any kind exists between Red Granite, on the one hand, and either Krevoy or Stabler, on the other hand, in connection with Dumb and Dumber To, nor has Krevoy or Stabìer furnished any pre-production, producing or any other services to Red Granite in connection with Dumb and Dumber To."

Celebrities who've survived scandal

The producers also say that their "substantial contribution" to the first film and their 'initial development" of the sequel entitles them to compensation. In addition, the contract they signed for Dumb and Dumber allegedly gave them a "right of first negotiation for sequels and remakes on terms at least as favorable as their terms for producing the Original." They explain that this means they should get paid "even if the studio decides to hire another producer for the sequel, so long as the producer is willing and able to produce the sequel."According to the lawsuit, Red Granite has developed a "pattern" of misconduct and attempted the same thing to producer Alexandra Milchan on The Wolf of Wall Street. Milchan was eventually given the title of executive producer.
