Character actor Vincent D'Onofrio (Men in Black) was in serious talks to join HBO's mob drama The Sopranos next season in a pivotal role, but he tells TV Guide Online that a final deal never materialized. "It's something that they're going to do in the next two years and they're looking for somebody to do it and it's not going to be me," says D'Onofrio, who was approached by executive producer David Chase. "I'm not really allowed to talk about it, [but] I was into it. I'm not opposed to doing television, and The Sopranos is one of the best written things that's ever been on. It's a fantastic show." An HBO rep was unavailable for comment at press time. D'Onofrio next appears as a deranged serial killer opposite Jennifer Lopez in The Cell (see above).
