Damon Wayans Sr. is not "too old for this s***".

Wayans has accepted the lead role in Fox's Lethal Weapon reboot. He'll take over the role of Roger Murtaugh originated by Danny Glover in the 1987 film (and subsequent sequels), according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The official logline for the series reads: "When Texas cop and former Navy SEAL Martin Riggs suffers the loss of his wife and baby, he moves to Los Angeles to start anew. There, he gets partnered with LAPD detective Roger Murtaugh, who, having recently suffered a "minor" heart attack, must avoid any stress in his life." Riggs was originally played by Mel Gibson in the films, but has not been cast for the new pilot reboot.

A Lethal Weapon TV reboot is happening, whether you like it or not

McG (The O.C., Chuck) will direct the pilot, which is being executive-produced by Matt Miller (Chuck), Dan Lin (The Lego Movie) and Jennifer Gwartz (Forever).

Lethal Weapon is one of several movies being rebooted into pilots for the upcoming fall season. Fox also has a reinvention of The Exorcist in the works, along with CBS' Training Day and NBC's Cruel Intentionsand Taken.

The show is a return to TV for Wayans, whose last appearance was on an episode of Happy Endings with his son Damon Wayans Jr. in 2011.
