CRITICS STUCK ON TRAFFIC

The Steven Soderbergh-directed drama Traffic, starring real-life newlyweds Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones, was named the best film of 2000 by the New York Film Critics Circle. Soderbergh was honored as best director for both Traffic and Erin Brockovich. Tom Hanks, meanwhile, picked up best actor honors for Cast Away and Laura Linney nabbed best actress for You Can Count on Me. Other winners include Benicio Del Toro (best supporting actor for Traffic), Marcia Gay Harden (best supporting actress for Pollock), Kenneth Lonergan (best screenplay for You Can Count on Me) and Chicken Run (best animated feature).
