Creed Frontman Scott Stapp Says He’s Broke, Homeless

Scott Stapp, the singer of alternative rock band Creed, posted a video on Facebook this week informing fans that he is "completely penniless" and homeless, and accusing his record label and others of stealing money from him.

"Right now I'm living in a Holiday Inn, by the grace of God," Stapp says, claiming he was previously living in his truck. "I had no money, not even for gas or food. I went two days without eating because I had no money and ended up in an emergency room."

Stapp's wife of eight years, Jaclyn, recently filed for divorce from the singer, claiming he disappeared from their home last month and she has no idea where he's been living, according to the Miami Herald. She also says he has been binging on amphetamines, crystal meth and steroids, and has "become a paranoid shell who has threatened to kill himself and harm his family," the Herald reports.

The couple has three children.

In the video, Stapp slams the "libelous" rumors about him and says he's seeking an attorney to help him fight them. "I'm sober as can be," he insists, and reaffirms that he has re-dedicated his life to Christianity in recent years. He also promises his oldest son, Jagger, that he has not turned to drugs or alcohol.

"Right now, I'm under some kind of pretty vicious attack," Stapp says. "I still haven't figured out the reasons why."

The singer claims that he audited his professional and personal funds and discovered that money had been stolen from him. "There are people that have taken advantage and stolen money from me, and they're trying to discredit me, slander me," he says. "It's hard for me not to be very angry, resentful and bitter, and want to seek revenge. But as a Christian, I can't do that, as much as I want to."
