Spike is combining the competitive spirit of Lip Sync Battle with the universal appeal of The Late Late Show with James Corden's Carpool Karaoke for a "Caraoke Showdown." Craig Robinson (The Office) will host the special, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Caraoke Showdown is currently only a special to debut later in 2016, but has the potential to transform into a series if it performs well. Robinson will pick up unsuspecting contestants who'll compete in various karaoke-themed challenges such as belting out their favorite tunes, finishing lyrics or acting out songs for money. Celebrity guests will also be added to beef up the surprise factor.

It's Donald Trump and Ludacris (kind of) in these Lip Sync Battle previews

The karaoke-ish showdown has proven to be a successful model for Spike. The network just renewed Lip Sync Battle for a third season after averaging an impressive 4.4 million viewers for its sophomore effort.
