WHAT COST PERKY?

The trade mag Television Week is reporting that Katie Couric and CBS have reached a deal in principle that would put the Today vet in the anchor chair at CBS Evening News. Although Couric's NBC pact isn't up until the end of May, the feeling is that all involved parties want the theft/defection/transition wrapped up before the networks' mid-May upfront presentations. Katie, how about this for your first lead story: "Jackknifed 18-Wheelers Suck." (Sorry, just venting about my god-awful morning commute.)
