Conan O'Brien paid a sweet tribute to his late friend and colleague Abe Vigoda on Tuesday's episode of Conan.

Vigoda, who died of natural causes at age 94 on Tuesday, made frequent cameos on Late Night with Conan O'Brien, appearing with prosthetic ears as "Abe Vi-Yoda" and spoofing his breakout role in The Godfather. O'Brien, who learned of Vigoda's death a couple of hours before the taping, referred to the actor as a "lovely guy" and reminisced with sidekick Andy Richter about Vigoda's up-for-anything attitude when it came to the late-night show.

"Abe was a huge part of our show in New York," O'Brien said. "I couldn't believe how many times Abe would come on the show and do hilarious things for us. We used to call him up and sometimes would have the idea, like, three hours beforehand. It would usually be the silliest thing. Abe would always come right over, do it. Such a lovely guy."

"Thank you, Abe, for all the laughter," O'Brien added.
