Filming a documentary in the busiest ER in the country seems like a terrible idea, but Code Black is weaving the process of creating the documentary that inspired the show into its Season 3 arc. Diego Avila's (Tyler Perez) film project is not going to make things easy for the doctors and patients of Angels Memorial.

"Yes, it creates some very real complications for him and it creates some complications for others in the hospital," executive producer Michael Seitzman confesses. It sounds like a lawsuit waiting to happen, but Diego's filming is actually going to be a saving grace down the road.

"It also turns into a particular kind of gift that I don't want to ruin for fans but at some point they will go, 'Oh thank god he was making that documentary.'"

Code Black airs Wednesdays at 10/9c on CBS.
