Hey, Vern — Toby is back!
Lee Tergesen will reunite with fellow Oz alum JK Simmons — and vex Kyra Sedgwick's Brenda along the way — when he guest-stars on TNT's The Closer, TVGuide.com has learned exclusively.
In the season premiere, airing June 8, Tergesen will play Detective Nick Carey, an FBI Agent whose possible negligence in a case could hamper Brenda's investigation of a quadruple homicide.
On HBO's acclaimed and gritty Oz, Tergesen portrayed Tobias "Toby" Beecher, a corporate attorney who was sentenced to Oswald State Correctional Facility when he killed someone while driving intoxicated. Simmons, aka The Closer's Pope, played Vern, the prison's Aryan Brotherhood leader. The two characters were enemies with scads of bad blood between them.

Tergesen's previous credits also include TNT's Wanted and HBO's Generation Kill.
