Get ready to reunite with the character that wrecked your childhood all over again.

Syfy is reportedly working with the creator of the Child's Play franchise to develop a new TV series devoted to Chucky, that stabby little toy that had every '80s kid in the world burning their My Buddy dolls in effigy back in the day. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the network reportedly won a bidding war for the property rights to develop a potential Chucky series, which would mark the small-screen debut of the overalls-clad doll, who houses the soul of fugitive serial slaughterer Charles Lee Ray.

Don Mancini, who wrote the creepy 1988 thriller and its sequels (many of which he also directed), told The Hollywood Reporter, "I've long wanted to bring Chucky to television and Syfy is the perfect network for us. The show will be a fresh take on the franchise, allowing us to explore Chucky's character with a depth that is uniquely afforded by the television series format, while staying true to the original vision that has terrorized audiences for over three decades now."

Mancini, who previously wrote the scripts for three episodes of Syfy's Channel Zero, is expected to write the pilot for the potential Chucky series.

Syfy has also reportedly ordered up pilots for Cipher, a drama about artificial intelligence, and (Future) Cult Classic, a dark comedy from Saturday Night Live boss Lorne Michaels.
