Chicago Med Mega Buzz: A Major Character Is Leaving!

After a close call with Dr. Charles (Oliver Platt), the dedicated staff at Chicago Med will now have to contend with losing one of their own for good. A major character is exiting the show and it's going to happen sooner than you think.

"It happens in the first half of the season," showrunner Andrew Schneider tells TV Guide.

Wait, what? Not only is this huge exit imminent, it's unclear who will be leaving or why. These last few weeks have been rough for Sarah (Rachel DiPillo), who is still processing Dr. Charles' shooting, but will that be enough to make her leave? Or what about Noah (Roland Buck III), who is feeling guilty over losing a patient after telling their family they would be just fine? Of course, factoring in the frequent dangers like the patient who set off a hand grenade in the ER, your guess is as good as mine.

Though this loss is sure to be a major blow, a new face just might be the key in helping everyone move forward. "We very likely will have a new character introduced at the end of the season," Schneider added.

Chicago Med airs Tuesdays at 10/9c on NBC.
