Chelsea Handler Blasts Her E! Show: "I'm So Much Smarter Than That Show Was"

Chelsea Handler is definitely not looking back.

Nearly six months after the comedienne left her E! late-night show for a new deal with Netflix, Handler says she has no regrets.

"I'm so much smarter than that show was, and I wanted to be doing a show that was smarter than I was," she said Wednesday, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Handler was speaking at the Code/Media conference in Dana Point, Calif., when the topic of Chelsea Lately came up.

"At E! I did what I wanted, and I didn't listen to anybody because I didn't care what they had to say because I didn't respect their opinions," she said. "At Netflix, I do respect their opinions. It's like going out with a guy you're proud to be seen with."

Handler's deal with Netflix includes a stand-up special that was released in October, several more docucomedy specials and a talk show that launches in 2016. Unlike her E! show, Handler's new specials will cover a wide range of topics including Silicon Valley, racism and unconventional relationships. "I didn't want to go fill in someone else's shoes," she said. "I wanted to create my surroundings."

Similarly, she described her new talk show as a "faster, quicker, cooler" version of 60 Minutes that will be a "healthy mix of everything that goes on around the world."
